DRIVING LICENCES

A current valid driving licence (not provisional) must be produced by the hirer at the time of every rental. Plastic photo or Old-Style licence must be shown. The licence must have been in force for at least 2 years. Certain endorsements may be accepted at the company's discretion. 2 forms of printed ID (i.e. bank statement or utility bill) will also be required to back up the licence address. Only drivers authorised by Tears may drive rented vehicles.

AGE LIMITS

Drivers must be aged between 21 and 69, Customers wanting to take vehicles overseas must be aged between 25 & 69, The licence must have been in force for at least 3 years.

PREVIOUS ENDORSEMENTS, ACCIDENTS & MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Certain endorsements, Previous accidents & medical conditions may be accepted at the company's discretion and must be disclosed at time of booking and collection.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF HIRE

  • a) Driving Licence Plastic photo or Old-Style licence must be shown
  • b) National Insurance Number or licence DVLA CHECK CODE which can be retrieved from www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
  • c) 2 forms of printed ID (i.e. bank statement or utility bill) to verify your current address. If you are moving home, proof of the new address will be required

VAT

All rates and insurance are subject to VAT at the standard rate

INSURANCE

The insurance proposal included in the rental agreement must be completed by each and every person wishing to drive the vehicle. £5 charge is made for extra drivers. All vehicles are covered by an extensive policy the insurance does not cover loss of baggage or goods. In the event of an insurance claim being made the hirer will be liable for the current excess of £500. However, the hirer maybe able to reduce the excess to £100 by payment of a damage waiver. (Drivers under 25 and holders of International Licences excess £500).

WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE

The hirer remains responsible for punctures and negligent damage (e.g. kerbed wheels or tyres, damage to upholstery, cigarette burns, damage to aerials and mirrors etc.) any misuse or abuse of vehicle & Misfuelling The hirer is responsible for any mechanical repairs caused by failure to heed warning lights and gauges. Damage to any vehicle above windscreen height and undercarriage is the full responsibility of the hirer. Damage to rental vehicle or others vehicle & property as a result of driving under the influence of alcohol / drugs. Toll, Parking, Traffic offences & emission zone fees etc. Insurance does not cover loss of personal items, baggage or goods.

OWN INSURANCE

Customers may arrange their own insurance for comprehensive cover. We shall require from Insurance company or Broker evidence of such cover in advance.

PAYMENT

We will require the following payments prior to the rental commencing, rental charges, VAT, insurance or excess plus the necessary deposits. Payments must be made by acceptable credit or charge card in the hirers name. (unless an approved Business Credit account is held).

DEPOSITS

A £500 Deposit is required at time of rental the hirer maybe able to reduce the deposit to £100 by payment of an excess waiver. Deposit to cover fuel, loss of parts, and damage by misuse or late return is required. The deposit will also be retained if there is a need for excessive cleaning after a period of hire. The deposits are refundable by debit/credit cards or Bank Transfer during normal office hours only.

CANCELLATION

Once a deposit has been paid to secure the reservation and subsequently the vehicle is then cancelled, we reserve the right to hold the deposit or the value of the rental, whichever is the lower amount.



HIRE PERIOD

The charges are strictly for the periods of hire as stated. Any late returns or excess hours will be charged at 1/8th of the daily rate per hour.

EXTENSION OF HIRE

If the hirer requires to extend the hire, he must inform our rental office immediately to ensure that adequate insurance cover is affected.

OFFICE OPENING HOURS & ADDRESS

Mon - Fri 08.00am – 6.00pm, Sat 08.00am - 12:00pm, All vehicles are to be returned to office below unless prior arrangements have been made. Tears of Sutton Bridge Ltd, 262 Bridge Road, Sutton Bridge, Spalding, Lincs. PE12 9SH.

LOADS

It is hirer responsibility to insure any loads or goods, hirer responsibility to ensure load is secure and within load weight limit of carrying vehicle.

FUEL

Vehicles will not be full at the commencement of hire and the hirer is requested to return as collected. Fuel charges available on request.

VEHICLE INSPECTION & CONDITION

All vehicles are fully checked before the commencement of hire. They are serviced and maintained in our own workshops.

BREAKDOWN COVER

If the vehicle should breakdown while on hire we have a full 24 hour back up service. Our 24 Hour Helpline telephone number is 01406 350218.

CONTINENTAL HIRE

We are pleased to be able to offer this service and our staff will quote for your specific requirements on request. Rates are subject to a 25 % Continental surcharge and additional breakdown cover. Only holders of full UK licence may hire vehicle for use overseas. Under no circumstances may any vehicle Tears Rental Vehicle be taken outside the UK without written permission and relevant documentation from Tears Rental.

LONG TERM RENTAL

Where vehicles are required for longer periods of hire, special discount rates may apply. Full details are available on request.

RATES

The current rates & details are shown on this website but are subject to change without notification. Rates include insurance, VAT, unlimited mileage, maintenance, breakdown cover, but exclude fuel, excess, Toll fees & negligent damage.

TRADE SALES

NON-SMOKING

All rental vehicles are strictly non-smoking (including Vaping). Deposits will be withheld if there is any evidence of this condition being broken.

ANIMALS

In order to satisfy the majority of our customers, we regret that we are unable to allow animals or pets to be carried in our vehicles at any time.

CUSTOMER VEHICLE PARKING

We have a number of parking spaces available. These are available on a first come first served basis and vehicles are left at the owners own risk. Road side parking is available very nearby.

WHAT DO I DO IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT?

In the event of an accident occurring with our vehicle, there are several things you must do:
Firstly, you MUST contact Tears Rental on 01406 350218 or 01406 359369 and alert us straight away, get all the details of other party involved in the accident and any witnesses – photos where possible are great help – note location, date, time ect
